Basic Requirements for Australia Army Recruitment 2023/2024 

To be eligible for the Australian Army recruitment, you must satisfy the following conditions:

1. Current or recent service in a foreign military, within the past three years.
2. Possession of a minimum of five years of full-time military service.
3. Qualifications, skills, and experiences directly applicable to the Army’s requirements.
4. Meeting the Army’s specified minimum standards for academic and military education.
5. Age of less than 48 years at the time of application.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, encompassing speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills, as per the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) standards.

To gain acceptance for the Australia Army Recruitment, you must:

1. Receive a recommendation from a Selection Board following an interview.
2. Successfully meet the medical entry standard set by the ADF.
3. Secure an Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Visa from the Department of Home Affairs, ensuring both you and accompanying family members fulfill specific health and character prerequisites.
4. Attain and maintain a suitable level of ADF security clearance.
5. Have formally resigned from your existing military service and be exempt from Reserve service obligations.
6. Qualify and commit to becoming an Australian citizen.

Available Vacancies at the Australia Army Recruitment 

Australia Army Recruitment Positions Vacancies within the Australian Army are divided into two categories: “Officer” and “Other Ranks.” Find more information below.

General Service Officer (GSO) 

To be eligible, you should have achieved a minimum education level equivalent to an Australian Higher School Certificate (Year 12). 

Additionally, you must have undergone military commissioning training comparable to the program conducted at the Royal Military College – Duntroon.

Specialist Service Officer (SSO) 

For this role, you must hold relevant tertiary qualifications in your specialized field. You should also meet the requirements for registration with the appropriate Australian registration body/authority before your appointment. 

Completion of military commissioning equivalent to the Specialist Service Officer course at the Royal Military College – Duntroon is necessary.

Other Ranks (Soldiers) 

To qualify, you must have completed an education level akin to an Australian Secondary School Certificate (Year 10). Additionally, you should have undergone basic military training similar to the program offered at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion – Kapooka.

The Australian Army Recruitment Procedure 

1. The Directorate of Career Management Support – Army (DCMS-A) will oversee your application, distinct from Defence Force Recruiting. Anticipate a process duration of 18 to 30 months, spanning from your initial expression of interest to your first day at work within the Army.
2. Throughout this timeline, you must meet Army’s medical standards, receive approval after a board interview, secure a visa, demonstrate your separation from current military service, gain necessary security clearance, and provide a separation date encompassing all service types (full-time, reserve service, etc.).
3. Initiate your contact with DCMS-A (via the email form link provided later on this page) with an expression of interest, along with your CV/resume.
4. Should your qualifications, experience, and potential align with an expected vacancy, you’ll be invited to complete a comprehensive application. This submission will be reviewed to ascertain the ease of transferring your skills and qualifications to the Australian Army.
5. If your skills and qualifications can be readily transitioned, a detailed medical history review will be requested, and scrutinized by a medical professional to confirm your alignment with the necessary medical standards.
6. Furthermore, you will undergo psychological screening and an interview with Defence Member and Family Support before participating in a selection board.
7. A successful outcome in the medical review and selection board, coupled with a vacancy in your chosen field, may lead to an extended letter of offer.

Accepting the Letter of Offer prompts the Australian Army to apply for an Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Visa from the Department of Home Affairs for you and your accompanying dependents.

Successful visa acquisition necessitates proof of or commitment to separating from all service types (full-time, reserve service, etc.) before the ‘First entry date’ specified on your visa.

Important Information: Please be aware that Subclass 186 Visas will be sponsored for dependent children below the age of 21 during the submission of the Subclass 186 visa nomination.

For dependent children aged over 21, sponsorship is considered if they are recognized as having special needs.

Before commencing duties within the Australian Army, it is imperative to secure the necessary security clearance.
